If you share your email address with someone else, this may seem tricky. Fortunately, there is a simple solution.
All online ‘member-type’ websites require their users to have a unique identifier to register. Surnames, date of birth, and so on are not unique, therefore the identifier is your email address. In my.friendshipforce.org, it works the same way.
If you share your email address with someone else, don’t worry! Most email providers offer “email aliases” which can let you use separate addresses for the same inbox.
For example, a couple sharing the email address “[email protected]” could also receive emails at “[email protected]” or at “[email protected]”. Below are instructions on how to create aliases with popular email providers.
Gmail and Hotmail
After your existing username, simply add a plus sign, ‘+’, followed by any additional text or numbers you want to be identified by. This will allow aliased emails to come to your mailbox.
Messages sent to [email protected] will be delivered to the mailbox [email protected].
Yahoo
Yahoo users may create secondary email addresses that share an inbox by going to Settings -> Accounts, then clicking on your email address followed by Create Address. Simply enter the name you want and click Check Availability, followed by Choose and completing the associated prompts.
Other email providers have similar solutions to offer, so check with yours.
